What to see in and around Singapore

For some Singapore may be synonomous with it's skyscraper skyline... so it may come as a surprise to know, for instance, that this small city-state of Singapore is only one of two cities in the world to have a significant area of primary rainforest within its boundaries...

Discover more of what makes Singapore unique...

Must sees

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

Only 12 kilometres from the city, this lush 164-hectare reserve contains more species of trees than the entire North American continent.

Sri Thandayuthapani Temple

Built in 1859 and rebuilt in 1983, the unique feature of this Southern Indian temple is the roof with 48 engraved glass panels which are angled to catch the rising and setting sun. The temple traditionally sees the culmination of the Thaipusam procession as well as the Navarathiri Festival.

Singapore Zoo and Night Safari

As the sun sets, a different world comes to life. At the Night Safari, you can look a rhinoceros in the eye, hear the howls of a pack of striped hyenas or watch giraffes glide serenely across the plain in the still of the night.

Sentosa Island

Nature beckons everywhere on Sentosa. Look out for friendly peacocks, monkeys and squirrels along the way. Take a walk at the Nature Walk/Dragon Trail which meanders through a secondary rainforest and discover the many species of trees, plants, birds and insects found along this dragon-themed trail for that added dosage of legend and myth. Stop by the vantage point on the summit of Mount Imbiah for a scenic view of the neighbouring islands...

Singapore Botanic Garden

This is a 63.7-hectare (157-acre) botanical garden in Singapore. It is half the size of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew and about one-fifth the size of Central Park in New York. It is the only botanic garden in the world that opens from 5 a.m. to 12 midnight every single day of the year, and does not charge an admission fee, except for the National Orchid Garden.

Food and entertainment

Despite its relatively small size Singapore is home to an astounding number and variety of restaurants and eating centers. This is truly a culture that enjoys good food, no matter the time of day or night.

Entertainment and cultural activities are available all year round: art festivals, theatre production, stage performances etc.

And of course discover Boat Quay, Clark Quay, Robertson Quay and Collier Quay and Singapore by night
